JH: I'm not trying to depress anybody today, but I really want to share this blog that I read this afternoon: Days With My Father. It highlights the final 3 years that a man spends with his 90something year old father. It's beautiful, heartbreaking and amazing with the most haunting photos of this old man. It's the best tribute I think I've ever come across!
If you take anything away from this blog, please let it be that we as a society need to care for our old and appreciate our families.

So many have never known such love. When one has, it is a part of their soul, and they must share it with the world, in whatever way possible. Goodness begets goodness in multitudes.:)
We should all be reminded how precious life is and that it can end at any moment. It's something you just can't get back.

I agree with you that we need to care for our old and appreciate our families more. The "old" have so much to teach us, so much to say, and so much we need to hear...The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Thank you for sharing this, not everyone gets a chance to experience such an intimate relationship. This is very beautiful, I am glad to see a man take care of his father. I work in a nursing home, I see these kinds of things going on everyday. It is very heartbreaking to see some of our elderly feel like they are "left behind" or "tossed out" by their families because they no longer have time for them or cannot care for them. I don't care what anyone else says, its just how I was raised, but we should take care of our elderly. They took care of us when we were in diapers, why can't we do the same?

It's great, but what are you supposed to do when you have abusive parents? That is a difficult conundrum. My mother and her sisters who were sexually abused by their father were expected to look after him, and one of them did.
My parents fought a war around me when i was trying to grow up. My mother slashed my father's wrist with a carving knife and threw a radio at my head. I gave her a wonderful funeral and paid a fond tribute to her at the church.
Are the children always the bad part of the relationship?
I was just passing by, and I really enjoyed your blog that you posted... Makes me think of the mistakes I have made with my Dad... Thanks for sharing...

What a beautiful tribute to his father. I truly beleive that if we would only and always care for the most helpless in our society, many of our troubles would just magically go away.
I saw this before... so sad! But so touching.
This is a beautiful gift that was given to his dad.
We all react differently but I have to say this events leave us quite creative in some way. Thank you.
